Who Done It? Using Electrophoresis in the Classroom

Presenter: Bob Adamson

Location: Biology Lab, SVRSS

Date/Time: Full Day Session - Tuesday, February 3

Description: Participants will use hands on activities to become familiar with the principles and practices of agarose gels to identify DNA markers. It allows teachers to explore various forensic technologies to solve mysteries they set up in class. Recombinant DNA technology is one of the most significant advances in biology of our time. These advances have transformed the fields of medicine and technology. If time permits, we will also perform a protein testing activity. This session would be applicable to participants who teach junior high and high school sciences or anyone with an interest in the field.
